History

In 1977 Jerry McDonald Sr. resigned from Meridian Avenue Baptist Church in order to start Calvary Baptist Church in Canadian, OK. The Lord blessed the church and in 1984, 102 acres of wooded land 5 miles North of Eufaula was donated to the church. The ministry moved to the new property as soon as a church building was constructed.  Since that time many buildings have been built on the property for the cause of reaching others for Jesus Christ.

Pastor McDonald Sr. went home to be with the Lord in March of 2012, after faithfully pastoring Calvary Baptist Church for 35 years. Upon his passing Bro. Jerry McDonald Jr. became the Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church and Director of Calvary Baptist Ministries.  Bro. JR led the congregation faithfully until August of 2021, when he felt the Lord leading him to resign the pastorate. Bro. JR was honored as Pastor Emeritus and has since transitioned into a staff evangelist role and travels across the country representing Calvary Baptist Ministries.

Bro. Cambrin Collins was called as the Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church and the Lord blessed the church with a seamless transition.  Bro. Cambrin and his wife Mrs. Jennifer have faithfully served in various roles at Calvary since before they were married in 2001.

Over the last several years the church has been actively upgrading our facilities. Most recently, our gymnasium was converted into the church auditorium. This provided ample space for current and future growth. Although our facilities have a new look, we never want to change the way we worship.

Throughout the history of Calvary Baptist Church there has always been an emphasis on outreach.  Whether it be through the bus ministry, jail ministry, nursing home services, youth bible studies, door to door visitation, or other community outreaches, we are always actively seeking ways to reach the lost and dying world with the Gospel.

We have many past blessings for which to be grateful, and owe a debt to many people of the past whom God used to establish and grow Calvary Baptist Church into what it is today. We are excited about the future and only God knows the blessings ahead!
